Mmuseumm

The Mmuseumm is an unusual art gallery housed in a freight elevator. It is located at 4 Cortlandt Alley, New York, NY 10013. The three owners of the gallery are friends and colleagues, and they decided to start it as a pet project. Their company had rented an elevator shaft from the landlord, but when they discovered that the space would be too small for a gallery, they took the space instead. They also found a small space on the ground floor that opens to the street.

While the Mmuseumm is not open every day, the museum is open to the public on weekends during spring, summer, and fall. The museum will resume regular public hours in Spring 2019. It is possible to view the art and history in the galleries all year round from viewing windows. The museum has a limited number of exhibits, so visitors don’t have to wait in line. You can also visit Museum at Eldridge Street.
